In the dangerous world of combat operations, the ability to detect and accurately sight the enemy may be the difference between life and death. The makers of the Streamlight TLR-3 have recognized this truth and created a gun-mounted lighting system that is superior in every way to the competition. Light emitting diodes, or LED's, are a recent invention that offer a long lasting and nearly indestructible alternative to regular bulbs. Streamlight designers have created a breakthrough technology called C4 LED that nearly triples the illumination available from competing LED lights, offering the equivalent of a xenon bulb in terms of brightness and range. The proprietary C4 LED system is capable of delivering 4,100 candelas at its peak beam concentration, or 90 lumens, through the use of a parabolic reflector. This is roughly triple the amount of light emitted from competing LED's.
One attribute that makes the Streamlight TLR-3 revolutionary is its versatility. With six interchangeable keys the light is able to be mounted to a variety of handguns including, but not limited to, the Springfield XD and 1911 Operator, Beretta Vertec and 92/96, Glock, Ruger, Smith & Wesson TSW, M&P and 99, Kel-Tec PF-9, Sig Sauer GSR and P200 and the Walther P22. Although these models were specifically verified by Steamlight for seamless application, other models with rail styles similar to the Glock and Picatinny will easily accommodate the TLR-3.

The main body of the light is constructed of impact-resistant polymer with a face cap of 6000 series lightweight machined aluminum and coated with an anodized finish.
