Comparing Airsoft Rifle Models and Firing Velocity by Sergeant Killzone
Airsoft rifles come in a variety of models and are manufactured by a large number of companies. Some of these brands may include Tokyo Marui, Classic army, Crosman, and many others. Because there is such a wide variety of rifles to choose from, it can be very difficult for new players to understand which type of rifle they should get. This will largely depend on what type of environment and use the gun would be required for. This is because some people may choose to use them for the purpose of airsoft games, which will have military simulations, while others may require them mainly for simple target practice, like shooting tin cans. These types of rifles are designed to look just like the real guns and will have very high detail, which can make it difficult to tell them apart, except for the blaze orange tip that is required by law in some areas.
When comparing these airsoft rifles, you need to take into consideration performance metrics that are specific to the particular gun. These two considerations are the muzzle velocity and rate of fire that can be achieved with the rifle. The rate of fire is measured by the frequency of projectiles being expelled by the rifle when in automatic fire mode. In most cases, it will be calculated in rounds per second (RPS), but you may also find other terms being used such as rounds per minute (RPM) or BBs per second (BPS). The muzzle velocity of the rifle is a measurement of the speed at which a BB reaches when it is propelled out of the muzzle. There are different weights for BBs, but the standard weight is.2 g, and most muzzle velocities are calculated based on this standard weight. The muzzle velocity is measured in feet per second and it will usually be abbreviated in the specifications as FPS.
These two performance considerations will differ depending on the type of gun that is manufactured. These rifles can be distinguished by their type or by their optimal range of shooting. Those rifles that have higher muzzle velocities would generally have a much longer range due to the extra energy being produced. This is important to take note of because if you intend to use a rifle with such high velocities at close range, it would be unsafe and can cause injury. If the airsoft games that you play involve urban simulations where there are skirmishes taking place in close quarters, it would be preferable to choose a rifle that has muzzle velocities between 260 and 320 FPS. These types of weapons would generally be shorter rifles that are much lighter and allow better maneuverability. However, if the setting is in an environment that allows for a more medium-range, then utilizing assault rifles would be the best option. These types of rifles would generally be longer and maybe a bit heavier than those used for close range combat. Most of the assault rifles that can be found in the market to date would have velocities of 350 400 FPS.
